Faculty members' perception of professionalism in the higher education system of teacher training: a mixed study

| The purpose of the current research was to investigate the perception of faculty members about professionalism in the higher education system of teacher training. The method of the present research was based on the practical purpose and from the point of view of data collection, it was a part of mixed research with an exploratory design. Semi-structured interviews as the main tool for gathering information of the qualitative part and using the purposeful sampling method, 22 academic experts, specialists and faculty members of Farhangian University campuses participated in the research until reaching theoretical saturation in data collection. In the quantitative part, the statistical population included all faculty members of Farhangian University, numbering 900 people, of which 269 people were tested by stratified sampling method. A researcher-made questionnaire was also used to collect information in the quantitative section. Finally, to analyze the data obtained in the qualitative part of the coding method of thematic analysis, and to analyze the quantitative data, descriptive statistics tests and exploratory factor analysis were used using SPSS software. The findings of the research showed four types of commitments in an innovative way, including; Professional commitments, organizational commitment, commitment to colleagues and commitment to students exist in the field of professionalism of faculty members in teacher training. In professional commitments, special competencies such as paying attention to diverse teaching strategies, technological capabilities in virtual space, regularizing theoretical education combined with practice, promoting professional self-confidence in the production of pure and indigenous science; In the organizational commitment to the exposure and multifaceted development of communication with education and the surrounding society, the duty to obey the values and laws of the university and the Islamic education system, the document of the fundamental transformation of education; The most important signs of professionalism were recognized in the obligations to colleagues and student teachers to help individual and group growth, the task of teaching and learning, the dominant needs of education and education and considered in the statutes of Farhangian University. Also, the results of exploratory factor analysis showed that the amount of KMO confirms the adequacy of sampling and Bartlett chi test was also found to be significant at the level of 0.001. Also, the minimum factor loadings in the whole questionnaire were 0.491 and the maximum 0.868, which were much higher than the acceptable minimum (0.30). Based on the obtained results, the mutual relationship between both components (professionalism of faculty members and teacher training) leads to the development of intelligent education and capable human capital in education. |
